A complaint is in the pool if its narrative matches any of the following case-insensitive text searches (the third also needs one of its context words somewhere in the same narrative): 1. R1 - the code P0106 by any spelling (letter O for zero, a space, hyphen or period after the P, suffix 00), or a bare number after a code word: `(? N (no MAP fault is described on this vehicle). R2b a bare inventory: the MAP is one item in a single clause listing three or more OTHER repairs or checks with nothing singling it out (no code, no diagnosis naming it) -> N. A fix attempt that names the MAP with at most two other parts, or ties it to a code or symptom, is relevant. A dated sequence of separate repair visits is not an inventory: the visit that replaced the MAP counts (S). R3 when the narrative says the final repair that fixed it (or the cause the shop named last) was outside the MAP sensor and its connector/air path, the category is O even if the MAP was replaced first. R4 several parts changed together: most specific in the order W, A, D, S. R5 a reflash/ECU update with no part named -> F. R6 flags: stall = stalled, shut off, lost power, limp/reduced power stated as happening because of the fault (plain hesitation, a slow response or sluggishness is not a stall; a stall blamed on another part is not this fault); returned = the same light, code or symptom came back or the repair did not fix it. R7 an air filter or intake part replaced with the sensor: the order of R4 applies. R8 an owner's inference about the cause (a suspected failed tube, condensation, a rumour that an update fixes it) with nothing replaced or named by a shop -> U. R9 motorcycles, powersports and motorhome/heavy-truck chassis are outside this car study -> N. R10 an owner who cleaned the sensor (or port) and nothing else is named -> D even if it did not help; recall flag = a recall/TSB/special coverage/settlement/known-issue notice for this vehicle is mentioned as performed, offered, refused or asked about (a statement that there are no recalls is no). R11 a related pressure-sensor code (P0068, P2226-P2229, P0235-P0239, P012x, brand codes) counts only when the owner's words or the code's own printed wording name the MAP / barometric / boost-pressure sensor or its pressure reading; a bare code number in a list of codes with no such sensor named -> N. R12 an ambiguous "manifold sensor" with no pressure/MAP wording -> N. Pool history: first batch 253 complaints (R1 P0106 33, R1s sister code 12, R2 MAP words 224, some matching more than one); second batch 73 complaints added by an independent search of the whole file (owners' words such as "turbo boost sensor", "charge air pressure sensor", "absolute pressure sensor", and the related boost and barometric codes).
