The text published below differs from them only where a few working terms were replaced by "sorting rules" and "sorting".) # Sorting rules - ABS / brake control module "lost communication" complaints (U0121 study) Written before any complaint in the set was sorted. ## Pool (how the complaints were found) NHTSA complaints received 2015-01-01 to the latest received date in the flat files. A complaint is in the pool if its narrative matches any of the following case-insensitive text searches (the exact expressions are in the section "The text searches as written" below). "ABS wording" below means: ABS, anti-lock, EBCM, EBTCM, ECBM, brake control module/unit/computer, brake module, hydraulic control unit, HCU, HECU, VSC, ESC, VSA, DSC, stability control, vehicle stability, traction control. 1. R1 - the code U0121 by any spelling (letter O for zero, a space, hyphen or period after the U), or a bare 0121 after a code word (code, dtc, error, fault). 2. R2 - communication wording (lost communication, loss of / lack of / no communication, communication error / fault / failure, CAN bus, CAN network, network error, not communicating, unable to communicate ...) in a narrative that also has ABS wording. 3. R3 - an ABS or stability module/unit/pump/computer/modulator named, together with failure or repair wording (fail, bad, faulty, defect, replace, malfunction, short, water, corrosion, software, update, reprogram, flash, rebuild, recall, bulletin). 4. R3v - an ABS, anti-lock or traction/stability warning light, lamp or message, together with power or wiring wording (battery, voltage, alternator, ground, jump start, dead, charging, fuse, wiring, harness, connector) in the same narrative. 5. R4 - an ABS, anti-lock, traction control or stability control warning light, lamp, indicator or message, with no other wording above. Every narrative that matches R1, R2 or R3v is sorted. Narratives that match ONLY R3 or R4 are far too many to sort all; a random sample of 500 of them (fixed random seed 121, drawn before any sorting) is sorted, and the rest were not sorted. Narratives that mention the brake system but have none of the wording above are not in the pool. A second search of the whole file later added more narratives (see "Pool history" below; the added batch is sorted under the same rules). Background for the reader (not a sorting rule): U0121 is the code a car stores when other modules stop hearing the anti-lock brake (ABS) control module on the vehicle network, or the ABS module stops hearing them. Owners say "ABS light", "traction control light", "stability control off", "service stability system", "brake warning", "lost communication with ABS module", "ABS module failed". The usual suspects are low or unstable voltage, a ground or connector, the module itself, the wheel speed signals, or software. For each complaint record exactly one CATEGORY and five yes/no FLAGS. You see an excerpt around the matching words (and the whole narrative when nothing matched). Code what the excerpt supports; if it is cut off at a point that matters, code what is stated. ## RELEVANCE N - Not an ABS / stability / brake-control-module warning, fault or communication event on THIS vehicle. Use N when: - the match is false (the words appear in another meaning, e.g. "ABS plastic", "abs" as muscle); - the narrative mentions ABS or stability control only in passing (a list of parts, a general statement, advice, a news story, another vehicle) with no statement that THIS vehicle had an ABS / traction / stability warning or message, a code, a module or sensor fault, a failure of ABS braking, or a repair for it; - the only subject is a different brake fault (worn pads, pulling, a stuck caliper, brake fluid leak, parking brake) and ABS is not said to be warned about or involved. NOT N (relevant) when, on this vehicle: a code is named (U0121 or any other ABS/stability code such as C-codes or U-codes); OR an ABS / anti-lock / traction control / stability control warning lamp or message came on; OR the ABS module / control unit / hydraulic unit is described as failed, replaced, blamed, tested, recalled; OR the ABS, traction or stability function stopped working or activated wrongly; OR communication with the ABS/brake module is said to be lost. ## CATEGORY (one letter) - what was found or done, on this vehicle M - Module. The ABS / brake control module (EBCM, EBTCM, ECBM, HCU, HECU, hydraulic control unit with its pump or valve block, stability module) was named by a shop, dealer or mechanic as the cause, or was replaced, rebuilt or repaired. V - Voltage or battery. The battery, a battery cable or terminal, the alternator or charging system, a low-voltage condition, a dead battery, a jump start or a battery replacement was named as the cause, or was the repair, or the owner reports the warning started right after such an event and it cleared with the battery repair. G - Ground, wiring or connector. A ground, a wire, harness, connector, pin, fuse, relay, corrosion or water in a connector, or a rodent-chewed wire was named as the cause or repaired/replaced (including network (CAN) wiring and the connector at the ABS module). W - Wheel speed signal. A wheel speed sensor, its wiring, a tone ring or reluctor ring, or a wheel bearing / hub with a built-in sensor was named as the cause or was replaced. C - Another module or system. A different control module or sensor (instrument cluster, body control module, engine computer, steering angle sensor, yaw/accelerometer sensor, brake pedal / brake pressure sensor, gateway, steering rack) or another vehicle system was named as the cause, or was replaced. F - Software or campaign only. A reflash / reprogramming / software update, relearn, recall, TSB, special-coverage or warranty-extension procedure was the only repair stated (no part named as cause). H - Hydraulics. Brake fluid, air in the brake lines, a brake line, caliper, master cylinder, booster or brake pad condition was named as the cause or was the repair. O - Another cause. A repair outside the categories above was named as the cause. K - Checked and cleared. The shop or dealer inspected or tested and found no fault, or only cleared the code/light, with no repair; or the light went out by itself and nothing was done. U - No diagnosis or repair stated. The event is reported but nothing was found or done yet, or the complaint does not say; also an owner's own guess, a code reader or scan with no shop/dealer/mechanic mentioned; also the case where a part was replaced and the owner says it did not fix it, with no other cause named. Precedence when more than one fits: use the FINAL repair the complaint reports as having fixed it (or, if it never got fixed, the cause the shop named last). A part replaced that the owner says did not help does not count. If several parts were replaced together and no single one is named, use the most specific named part in the order V, G, W, M, C, H. Among F, O, K, U: F before O before K before U. A cause the owner merely guesses at does not count (an owner's "probably the module" is U unless a shop or the dealer said it, or the part was replaced by someone). ## FLAGS (yes/no) brakes - the complaint states that the BRAKES themselves behaved differently: a soft or low pedal, a pedal that went to the floor, longer stopping distance, no brake assist, reduced or lost braking, brakes grabbing or locking, the brake warning light (red) on together with these, or a crash blamed on it. The ABS lamp alone, or the loss of ABS function alone, is not "brakes". comm - the complaint states that a communication or network fault was shown: U0121 or any U-code, "lost communication", "no communication", "network error" or "CAN" wording, or that other systems (several other warning lights, cluster, steering, transmission, cruise, tachometer, speedometer) failed at the same moment as the ABS warning. volt - the complaint ties the event to the battery or voltage: the battery died, was jumped, was replaced, was disconnected or low, the alternator or charging system failed, or "low voltage" appeared, before the warning, at the same time, or as the cause named. recall - the complaint states that a recall, special coverage, service campaign, extension, TSB or "known issue" notice for this vehicle was performed, offered, missing, refused, asked about, or is blamed or credited for this event. returned - the complaint states that after a repair or a reset the same light, code or symptom came back, or the repair did not fix it. ## OUTPUT One CSV line per complaint, in the order given, no header line: `odino, category, brakes, comm, volt, recall, returned, note` category is one letter (N M V G W C F H O K U); flags are yes or no (for N, all five flags are no); note is at most 15 words, no commas, saying what decided the category. ## Addendum for the second batch (written before the second batch was sorted) Batch 2 is the set of complaints found by the completeness check (774 narratives that the first text searches missed). They are sorted under exactly the same rules as batch 1 (RELEVANCE, CATEGORY, FLAGS and OUTPUT unchanged). Why the first searches missed them: ABS wording variants (anti lock, antilock, VSA, VSC, VDC, DSC, ESP, TCS, Stabilitrak, AdvanceTrac, brake computer, ABS controller / actuator / hydro unit / pump / computer, brake system control module), lamps named in a list ("ABS, VSC and brake light"), and other communication or ABS-related codes (U0415, U0416, U0122, U0129, U0126, U0123, U0124, C0561, C0035, C0040, C0045, C0050, C0051, U1122, U1123, U0073, U0100 with ABS lights). Reading aids, not new rules: a code other than U0121 that points at the ABS / stability / brake control module or its wheel-speed or steering-angle inputs counts as an ABS / stability event on this vehicle (NOT N); "stability control", "traction control", "VSC", "VSA", "ESC", "ESP", "VDC", "DSC", "StabiliTrak", "AdvanceTrac" warnings count like ABS warnings. ## Rules used to settle disagreements R1 to R10 were written after the first batch was sorted and before its disagreements were settled. The rules with the suffix a, b, c, d or e were added as the disagreements of later groups were settled (groups 1 to 11 are the first batch, groups 12 to 15 the second). Each disagreement was settled by one rule, named in the rule_applied column. R1 N: ABS / traction / stability wording appears only in passing, or the event is another brake fault with no ABS/stability warning, or another vehicle -> N, all flags no. R2 comm flag = yes only when the narrative states a code or wording of communication/network loss (U-code, lost / no communication, network, CAN, module offline, "will not communicate"), OR a system other than the lamps for ABS, traction/stability, brakes, check engine and battery failed at the same moment (power steering, transmission/gear selection, speedometer/tachometer/cluster, cruise, 4WD). ABS + check engine + battery lamps alone, or "many lights" without naming a non-lamp failure -> comm no. R3 volt flag = yes when the narrative says the battery died, was low, jumped, replaced or disconnected, the alternator or charging system failed or the battery/charging lamp came on, or low voltage was found, tied to the event (before, at the same time, or as the shop's cause). A battery merely replaced months earlier with no stated link -> no. R4 K (checked, no fault found / could not determine / code only cleared) needs a shop, dealer or mechanic visit stated with no repair. No visit stated, or a visit with no result stated -> U. R5 a part replaced by a shop/dealer, or named by them as the cause, sets the category (M module, V battery/charging, G ground/wiring/connector, W wheel speed sensor/ring/bearing, C other module or system, H hydraulics). Replaced by the owner on a guess, or replaced and the owner says it did not fix it with no other cause named -> U with returned=yes when the problem stayed. R6 F only when a software/reflash/recall procedure is the only repair stated; a recall performed and the problem came back -> F with returned=yes. R7 brakes flag = yes only for a change in the brakes themselves (soft/low pedal, longer stop, no assist, locked or grabbing brakes, red brake lamp with those, crash); ABS lamp or lost ABS function alone -> no. R8 recall flag = yes when a recall/campaign/TSB/special coverage is stated as performed, offered, missing, refused, asked about or credited for THIS event; an unrelated recall in the same narrative -> no. R9 returned = yes only when the same light/code/symptom is stated to have come back or not been cured after a repair or reset. R10 when the excerpt does not settle it: the narrower reading (flags no; category U). Rules added while settling groups 1 to 3 (suffix "a" in the rule name): R11a Wheel-speed wiring: a harness/wire/connector belonging to a wheel speed sensor, or a hub/bearing with the sensor, named as cause -> W; G only for other wiring (CAN, ground, fuse, ABS-module connector, unspecified wire). R12a A cause that a shop/parts store only hedges ("probably", "could be", "may be") or that is not confirmed or tied to the event is not a named cause -> U. R13a recall=yes needs a notice/campaign/extension performed, offered, missing, refused or asked about for THIS event, incl. the dealer or maker saying none/no extension exists; a bare owner opinion ("should be recalled") -> no. R14a A "battery saver" / "save battery" message counts as a low-voltage event: volt=yes. R15a Engine stall, loss of power, no start, jerking, rough running or power loss alone is not an "other system" for comm; only the R2 list (power steering, transmission/gear selection, speedometer/cluster, cruise, 4WD) counts. R16a Engine, ignition, fuel, emissions/air-injection, brake switch or other non-ABS system parts named as cause or replaced -> C (never O). R17a Prius-type brake accumulator or other hydraulic part (not the control module itself) -> H. R18a In brakes, a crash counts only when the owner definitely blames the ABS/stability malfunction; a hedged ("if it failed") blame -> no. Disconnecting the battery only as a remedy after the event is not volt=yes; a battery/charging warning lamp lit with the event is. Rules added while settling groups 4 to 6 (suffix "b" in the rule name): R11b a statement about recall status for THE problem (a recall should exist, why none, searched and none open, "not a recall part", owner asks) = recall yes (R8: missing / asked about). R12b engine stall, power loss, limp mode, throttle or engine lamps with ABS/TC lamps are engine symptoms, not a non-lamp system failing (R2): comm no. R13b problems listed as separate occasions or as a general list of troubles are not "at the same moment" / not tied to the event: comm no, volt no. R14b a campaign or recall title that names communication loss, without the narrative stating this vehicle's own comm fault: comm no. R15b battery disconnect used only as a reset or workaround AFTER the event is not a voltage cause: volt no. R16b owner calls it a "well-known" or "known" problem with no recall, TSB or campaign mentioned: recall no. R17b structure, body, rim or wheel (rusted subframe, undercarriage, wheels) named as cause = O, not C. R18b a warning lamp or message for a system outside the ABS/TC/brake/engine/battery lamps (power steering, AWD, airbag, park brake), with no stated loss of that function: comm no. R19b replacement of a hybrid traction battery, with no low-voltage or charging fault stated: volt no. R20b the wiring harness of a wheel-speed (ABS) sensor named as cause = W; other wiring = G. R21b brake booster pump / actuator assembly (hybrid hydraulic unit with pump) named as cause = M; plain vacuum booster, master cylinder, fluid = H. R22b a recall whose remedy is a part (module, HCU) not yet available = U, not F (F needs a software / procedure repair). R23b engine internals or fuel-system parts (lifter, camshaft, injectors) named as cause = C (another vehicle system). R9 reading used: a reset or restart that cleared the light and the light came back counts as "came back after a reset"; a stated repair that did not cure the symptom counts too. Where a unit is an owner-side action only or the excerpt is cut, R10 was applied (narrower reading: flag no, category U). Rules added while settling groups 7 to 10 (suffix "c" in the rule name): R11c a mechanical part of another system (axle, transmission, engine, throttle, steering gear, oil/fuel) named as the cause -> category C (not O). R12c a part replaced/repaired and the same problem stated to recur soon (no time or weeks, or new part also failed) with no other cause named -> U, returned=yes; a repair that held for months stays its category. R13c recall flag: an owner opinion that a recall 'should' exist or that the maker 'refuses to recall' -> no; a named campaign/TSB, or a stated ask/search/dealer reply that no recall covers this vehicle -> yes. R14c flags and categories describe the ABS/stability event; an unrelated fault, recall or repair in the same narrative (other issue, engine recall, general list of defects) does not set a flag. R15c comm via another system needs a stated loss of function (unavailable, disabled, will not shift, steering assist off); a bare 'service X' lamp or message -> no. Rules added while settling groups 11 and 12 (suffix "d" in the rule name): R11d ABS module/part named as failed only by the owner, own scan, parts store (AutoZone/O'Reilly), code reader or maker saying "no part", with no shop/dealer/mechanic diagnosis stated -> U. R12d A battery disconnect done by the owner as a reset or fire-safety step AFTER the event, with no battery/voltage fault stated -> volt no. R13d An ignition restart or battery-disconnect reset after which the same lights/symptom return counts as a reset: returned yes. Lights that start only after a repair, or recur with no repair/reset stated -> no. R14d Owner demanding or wishing for a recall that does not exist for the vehicle is not a recall/TSB stated as performed/offered/missing: recall no. R15d Engine stall, limp mode or power loss alone is not "another system failed" for comm; comm needs R2 wording/code or steering, gearbox, cluster, cruise, 4WD, door locks/horn failing with the event. R16d Unwanted ABS/TCS/VSC activation that applies the brakes or makes the vehicle fail to stop -> brakes yes; "nearly caused accidents" with no stated braking effect, or a lamp/pedal jolt only -> no. R17d High-voltage traction battery pack defects are another system (C) and volt no unless the 12 V battery or low voltage is stated. R18d Wiring of a wheel speed sensor is W (wheel speed signal); G is for module, network or power wiring. R19d Where sorting-rules K (light went out by itself) meets R4, R4 governs: no shop/dealer visit stated -> U. R20d Shop-named cause with no fix beats unnamed parts: if the shop named a cause last, use it; parts replaced with no cause named and no fix -> U (R5). Rules added while settling groups 13 to 15 (suffix "e" in the rule name): R11e a shop's or dealer's hedged "could be / possibly / may need" is not a named cause -> category U. R12e recall flag: owner opinion ("known issue", "should be a recall", "how is this not a recall") with no recall/TSB stated to exist for this vehicle -> no; a dealer/manufacturer statement about a recall for this vehicle (performed, pending, "there is no recall") -> yes; recall for another model year or an unrelated recall -> no. R13e returned = yes only when a repair, reset (restart, code clear, fuse pull), battery disconnect or part replacement precedes the recurrence; NHTSA boilerplate "failure recurred" with "vehicle was not repaired" and no earlier repair/reset -> no; a part replaced repeatedly ("third time") counts as repaired before. R14e a cause the owner saw by own physical inspection (broken or flooded part) counts as named; an owner inference from research, a video, a scan or a parts-store reader does not -> U. R15e owner states "the module failed / shorted" and no shop, dealer or mechanic is said to have named it -> U; a dealer saying "the ABS system failed, needs replacement" -> M. R16e volt = yes when the battery/charging lamp or a "battery system" message is shown at the same time as the event; a battery replaced or jumped only afterwards as owner troubleshooting, no stated link -> no. R17e comm = yes for power steering, transmission/gear, tachometer/speedometer, cruise or 4WD failing at the same moment; lamps only, or engine shutdown / loss of motive power alone, or "error codes" without a U-code -> no. R18e a dealer visit with a stated no-fault or could-not-duplicate result -> K even if the owner swapped parts earlier; a part replaced by a shop, failure recurred, no other cause named -> U (R5). ## Consistency checks After all groups were sorted and their disagreements settled, complaints were re-read in 12 rounds. Round numbers 1 to 12 are in the order the rounds were run. In the rule_applied column a rule from these rounds is written Rcons-. (for example Rcons-3.1 is rule 1 of round 3); the numbering of the rules starts again in every round. Each round re-read the complaints named below against the sorting rules and the settling rules above, and changed a value only where it broke a written rule. Round 1 - re-read: a sample of 120 complaints from all categories, all fields Rcons-1.1 comm=no when only lamps/messages (bare 'service X', power-steering lamp, radio/AC/Bluetooth blips) or engine stall/start failure are stated (R2, R15c, R18b); comm=yes when loss of steering/power steering or cruise at the same moment is stated (R2, R17e). Rcons-1.2 volt=yes when the battery/charging lamp is lit with the event; volt=no for a battery replaced as owner troubleshooting in a list, or disconnected as a reset (R16e, R12d, R15b). Rcons-1.3 recall=no for a bare owner opinion ('should be a recall', 'refuses recall'), a hedged 'could have been a recall', or a recall for another model/make (R13a, R13c, R12e). Rcons-1.4 a cause the owner saw by own physical inspection counts as named; structure (subframe, body) named as cause = O (R14e, R17b). Rcons-1.5 returned=yes when a repair is stated not to have cured the symptom (R9). Round 2 - re-read: 120 complaints then marked comm = yes (the communication question) Rcons-2.1 comm=no when only lamps/messages (incl. battery-saver, radio/AC/Bluetooth load-shedding, bare 'service X', non-U codes) or engine stall/limp/shutdown/total power loss are stated (R2, R15a, R17e, R10). Rcons-2.2 volt=no when a battery was only checked without a fault, replaced as owner troubleshooting with no link, or disconnected after the event as reset/fire safety (R3, R12d, R15b, R16e). Rcons-2.3 recall=no for a bare owner opinion, a 'known issue' with no campaign, or an unrelated recall in the same narrative (R13a, R16b, R14c). Rcons-2.4 K needs a shop/dealer visit with no repair; owner reset or parts-store scan only -> U (R4, R19d). Rcons-2.5 a cause the shop only hedges ('most likely') is not a named cause -> U (R12a, R11e). Round 3 - re-read: part 1 of 5 of the other 1,182 complaints then marked comm = yes (the communication question) Rcons-3.1 comm=no when only warning lamps/messages (incl. battery-saver, radio/A-C load shedding, bare "service X", non-U codes) or engine stall/limp/shutdown/total power loss are stated. Rcons-3.1b comm=yes needs a U-code, lost/no communication, network/CAN/module-offline wording, or a stated loss of function of power steering, gear selection, speedometer/cluster, cruise, 4WD (other system). Round 4 - re-read: part 2 of 5 of the other 1,182 complaints then marked comm = yes (the communication question) Rcons-4.1 comm=no when only warning lamps/messages (battery-saver, load shedding, bare "service X", non-U codes) or engine stall/limp/shutdown/total power loss are stated. Rcons-4.2 comm=yes needs a U-code, lost/no communication, network/CAN/offline wording, or stated loss of function of power steering, gear selection, speedometer/tach/cluster, cruise, 4WD. Rcons-4.3 a lamp for airbag/power steering/AWD/FCW/TPMS or a bare transmission/hood message with no stated loss of that function: comm no. Round 5 - re-read: part 3 of 5 of the other 1,182 complaints then marked comm = yes (the communication question) Rcons-5.1 comm=no when only warning lamps/messages (incl. battery-saver, radio/A-C/Bluetooth load shedding, bare "service X" message, non-U codes) or engine stall/limp/shutdown/power loss are stated; comm=yes needs U-code, lost/no communication, network/CAN/module-offline wording, or stated loss of function of a non-ABS/brake/engine/battery system (power steering, gear selection, speedometer/cluster, cruise, 4WD). Round 6 - re-read: part 4 of 5 of the other 1,182 complaints then marked comm = yes (the communication question) Rcons-6.1 comm=no when only warning lamps/messages (incl. battery-saver, load shedding, bare "service X", non-U codes) or engine stall/limp mode/shutdown/total power loss are stated. Rcons-6.2 comm=yes needs a U-code, "lost/no communication", network/CAN/module-offline wording, or stated loss of function of power steering, gear selection, speedometer/tach/cluster, cruise, 4WD. Rcons-6.3 failures of systems outside that list (turn signals, locks, radio/infotainment, HUD, blind-spot, wipers) without comm wording do not set comm=yes. Round 7 - re-read: part 5 of 5 of the other 1,182 complaints then marked comm = yes (the communication question) Rcons-7.1 comm=no when only warning lamps/messages are stated (ABS/TC/brake/airbag/ADAS/EPS/battery lamps, "service X", non-U codes) with no U-code, comm wording or stated loss of a listed function. Rcons-7.2 comm=no when an engine stall/shutdown/limp mode/reduced power/total power loss is the event (steering or brake effort lost only as a consequence of the engine being off). Rcons-7.3 comm=no when communication is only an owner guess or a recall/campaign title, or the failures are separate occasions/a general list not tied to the ABS event. Rcons-7.4 comm=no when the other failing items are outside the list (windows, key fob, alarm, radio, nav, emergency call, suspension, A/C). Round 8 - re-read: 120 complaints then marked recall = yes (the recall question) Rcons-8.1 recall=no when the owner only reads recalls of other models/years or other vehicles on their own, or only argues a recall 'should' apply/exist, with no contact, dealer/maker reply or notice for this vehicle (R12e, R13c, R14d). Rcons-8.2 recall=no for 'known issue/known problem' wording, a request/wish for a service bulletin or recall, or an unrelated recall (Takata, parts-unavailable recall for another failure) with no recall/TSB stated for this event (R16b, R14c). Rcons-8.3 recall=no when the excerpt shows no recall, TSB or campaign wording at all (R10 narrower reading). Round 9 - re-read: part 1 of 4 of the other 779 complaints then marked recall = yes (the recall question) Rcons-9.1 recall=no when the owner only reads/compares a recall of other models, years, engines or alternator sizes, or only argues one should exist, with no contact, reply or notice for this vehicle. Rcons-9.2 recall=no for an unrelated recall or service visit (timing, fuel, ignition at a different issue), a recall of a different failure, or a bulletin merely said to exist or be 'known' with no action for this event. Rcons-9.3 recall=no when the owner called a recall line or asked about one and no reply or notice is stated. Round 10 - re-read: part 2 of 4 of the other 779 complaints then marked recall = yes (the recall question) Rcons-10.1 recall=no when the owner only reads recalls of other models/years/vehicles or only argues a recall 'should' apply/exist, with no contact, dealer/maker reply or notice for this vehicle. Rcons-10.2 recall=no for 'known issue/problem' wording, a wish for a bulletin or recall, or an unrelated recall (Takata, airbag, powertrain, other failure) not tied to this event. Rcons-10.3 recall=no when the excerpt shows no recall, TSB or campaign wording at all. Rcons-10.4 recall=no when a TSB/service bulletin is only found or cited by the owner online, with no repair performed under it, no offer, and no dealer/maker reply. Rcons-10.5 recall=no when the owner only asks whether a recall exists and no reply is stated. Round 11 - re-read: part 3 of 4 of the other 779 complaints then marked recall = yes (the recall question) Rcons-11.1 owner only reads recalls/TSBs/extensions of other vehicles or model years, argues one should exist, asks without a reply, or links the failure to a campaign with no dealer/maker reply about it -> recall no Rcons-11.2 'known issue' wording, wish for a bulletin/recall, forum/internet research, or a statement that no recall was issued with no notice for this vehicle -> recall no Rcons-11.3 no recall/TSB/campaign wording in the excerpt -> recall no Rcons-11.4 a recall performed that is unrelated to the ABS/stability event (other system, no stated link) -> recall no Round 12 - re-read: part 4 of 4 of the other 779 complaints then marked recall = yes (the recall question) Rcons-12.1 recall=no when the owner only reads recalls of other models/years or other vehicles, or only argues a recall should exist/be extended, with no contact, reply or notice for this vehicle. Rcons-12.2 recall=no for 'known issue/problem' wording, a wish for a bulletin or recall, a bulletin or recall merely cited as evidence, or an unrelated recall (fuel pump, tie rod, cruise switch, Takata etc.).
